CALLANETICS® is no impact, isometric toning exercise system which stretches and contracts the body’s largest muscle groups, using tiny, gentle, precise movements, called pulses. The movements are done very slowly and reaching deep into the muscle fibres to give you a strong, firm body, without adding bulk.
CALLANETICS® is like ‘meditation in motion’. The large muscle groups are worked layer by layer, using tiny, pulse-like movements. Although it may look like you’re not doing much, you will feel your muscles working, as these movements are very powerful. CALLANETICS® is a very fast, safe and effective way to achieve muscle tone, flexibility, strength, and posture. It’s also very relaxing, and students often say after class that they feel as if they’ve had a massage.
The pulse-like movements we create into the muscles work against gravity, and we also use the breath, alignment markers, and biomechanical principles to arrange our bones into the best position to get the most out of the exercises.
CALLANETICS® was developed in the 1970s by former ballerina and world traveller Callan Pinckney, to manage a back condition she was born with, and which was exacerbated by 11 years of world travel (a story in itself!)
CALLANETICS® has been updated over the last few years by Lead Global Trainer Sandra Hanna of Gold Coast CALLANETICS® . Sandra has added biomechanical principles and alignment markers to the system, so CALLANETICS® is even safer and achieves faster results.
Whatever your shape or size, CALLANETICS® can enhance your appearance by toning your muscles if you follow the system with a trained teacher. And it takes only a few hours to feel and see the results.
