Stretchtone is a no-impact, isometric toning exercise which is like ‘meditation in motion’. The large muscle groups are worked layer by layer, using tiny, pulse-like movements. Although it may look like you’re not doing much, you will feel your muscles working as these movements are very powerful.
Stretchtone is a very fast, safe and effective way to achieve better muscle tone, flexibility, strength, and posture. It’s also very relaxing, and students often say after class that they feel as if they’ve had a massage.
The pulse-like movements work against gravity. We also use the breath, alignment, and biomechanical principles to arrange our bones into the best position to get the most out of the exercises.
Stretchtone has it’s origins in CALLANETICS®, which was developed in the 1970s by former ballerina and world traveller Callan Pinckney, to manage a back condition she was born with, and which was made worse by 11 years of world travel (a story in itself!)
Stretchtone includes biomechanical and alignment principles, so the technique is even safer. Stretchtone classes incorporate somatic movement flows and yoga poses for even faster results.
